What is Apache Pig?

Apache Pig is an open-source platform ideal for analyzing large datasets and representing them through data flows. Leveraging its high-level language, Pig Latin, users can develop functions and write scripts of their own to process data. Using a component known as Pig Engine, these scripts are further transformed into MapReduce tasks.
