  • Query Builder: Pull data from multiple, disparate databases through the Cross-Connection Query Builder and the Cross-Connection Editor. Create queries through simple drag-and-drop actions – no need to write SQL. Annotate tables and diagrams with notes and save queries for future use in the Project Manager. 
  • One-Click Charting: Send SQL query results to Excel, CSV and HTML formats with a single click from the interface. Convert data sets to Excel instances as pivot tables and linked queries, and change colors or assign labels as needed in Excel. 
  • Data Profiling: Identify data challenges early on in any project by surfacing data anomalies and outliers. Assess data quality through the number of unique and non-unique records, incomplete and duplicate information and specific data patterns. Available for the Professional Edition only. 
  • Intelligence Central: Directly pull data from relational and non-relational data sources. Collaborate securely with teams on SQL scripts, project artifacts, provisioned data and automation processes. Add and remove members through Active Directory and manage access to shared files and folders through permissions settings. View data insights in QlikSense, Microsoft Excel, Tableau and more. 
  • Data Transformation: Prepare data for analysis by manipulating and changing it from a table, data grid or SQL query and display a sampling in a window, leaving the source table intact. Export data as an Excel or CSV file, save it to local storage, publish it to Intelligence Central, or save it as a transform and cleanse document with the extension .tct. Only available in the Professional Edition.

Limitations

At the time of this review, these are the limitations according to user feedback:

  •  Data cleansing and transformation aren’t available with the base edition. 
  •  The base edition doesn’t connect to NoSQL data sources and doesn’t offer sharing and collaboration. 
  •  SQL generation is only supported for Oracle and MySQL connections. 
  •  Sampling isn’t supported for all databases, only for Oracle, IBM DB2, SQL Server and MySQL. 
  •  Data profiling excludes binary columns or any other data sets that can’t be compared.
